AFP Analytics is a sport analytic consulting firm whose main research focuses on hockey but we also have a strong knowledge base in baseball, basketball, and soccer. We seek to provide a blend of statistical analysis and business decision-making. We will ensure our analysis is as user friendly as possible. Whether you as the user have never taken a class in statistics or have earned a PHD, our analysis will be guaranteed to be easy to understand. If you want to learn the math behind our analysis or if you just want to know how our results will impact you, we will tailor our reports to do just that. AFP Analytics strives to produce quality public content centered around topics within the hockey world, as well as broader sport business and contract subject matters. The staff produces content in a few different ways. First, we provide contract projections for NHL free agents each offseason, free to access on this site or through X at @AFPAnalytics. Secondly, you can find our "Max Term Podcast" on all listening platforms. Tune in to hear our discussion on player contracts, team building, salary cap management, and the general business and analytics of hockey and other sports. Meet the Team
Kyle Stich - Director
AFP Analytics was founded by and is currently directed by Kyle Stich. He earned his Master of Science in Sport Management with a concentration in Sport Analytics from Columbia University in 2017. He earned his undergraduate degrees in Accounting and Sport Management from St. John Fisher College (now University) in 2015, where he currently serves as an adjunct professor teaching Sport Finance and Baseball Analytics.
Kyle provides 10 years of experience working with professional athletes and agents as a tax and analytic consultant.
In 2023, Kyle co-created the Max Term Podcast with AFP Analytics Analyst James Finch.
James Finch - Analyst
In May of 2019, James graduated from St. John Fisher College (now University) with a Bachelor of Science in Sport Management. James soon joined AFP Analytics as an intern for the summer of 2019, helping produce NHL contract projections for all free agents that offseason. After some data experience in pro hockey during the the 2019-2020 season, James returned to AFP Analytics.
In the half decade since, James has become a regular analyst at AFP Analytics and has continued to bring industry leading expertise in hockey contract projections and team salary cap management.
In 2023, along with Kyle Stich, James co-created the Max Term Podcast.
